OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT: 

Marlborough is seeking a dynamic educator to teach any level of upper school mathematics from Algebra 1 through Calculus. Responsibilities include a full teaching load of four courses as well as leading an advisory group. Each course involves a team of committed teachers who work together to ensure that students have a consistent experience in mathematics during each year at Marlborough. Marlborough’s Mathematics Department prepares students for college-level mathematics, teaches students to become independent problem solvers, and strives to motivate students to appreciate the elegance and wonder of mathematics.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach four mathematics classes
  • Collaborate with fellow mathematics teachers in teaching teams, contributing to lesson preparation as needed
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging mathematics lessons for the appropriate developmental level
  • Adhere to Marlborough’s academic policies, guidelines, and expectations
  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators
  • Monitor and report on student progress, utilizing Marlborough’s learning management system to take attendance, provide curriculum materials and maintain a digital gradebook
  • Serve as a grade-level advisor to a group of approximately 12 students
  • Participate actively in grade-level and school activities

QUALIFICATIONS AND  REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience
  • An ability to teach any level of Mathematics from Algebra 1 through Calculus
  • Experience using TI graphing calculators, preferably with the TI-Nspire CX
  • Possess a high degree of interest in supporting the developmental needs of teenagers with the ability to combine high expectations with a high level of support
